San Francisco, CA: June 8, 2026 – MarkScout has expanded its dark web and cyber intelligence service to cover more criminal marketplaces, closed forums and messaging channels, and to match what it finds more closely to client brands, domains and executives.
Darknet markets remain a large and adaptable economy. Chainalysis data cited in industry reporting puts their revenue at around USD 2 billion in 2024, down from USD 3.1 billion in 2021 as law enforcement action and market closures have pushed activity into smaller venues and encrypted chat groups.
Alongside the markets, infostealer logs and access brokers are the part of the ecosystem that most often touches brands, since they put customer and employee credentials, session tokens and network access up for sale.
“Criminals plan in the open on these channels before they attack. Seeing a brand name, a domain or a staff credential on offer is often the earliest warning a security team gets,” says Marcus Whitfield, cybersecurity and digital risk intelligence expert at MarkScout.
Alerts are reviewed by MarkScout analysts, who add context and recommend the next step, whether that is a password reset, a takedown or a referral to law enforcement.
