San Francisco, CA: August 7, 2026 – MarkScout has introduced a set of key performance indicators for corporate domain management. They are intended to show whether a portfolio is protected, efficient and aligned with the business, instead of simply counting how many names an organisation owns.
The need is real as the namespace keeps growing. Verisign reported 401.6 million domain name registrations across all top-level domains at the end of the second quarter of 2026, including 179.1 million under .com and .net and 148.6 million under country-code domains. At the same time, the 2026 round of new gTLDs and shorter certificate lifetimes are adding to the tasks that portfolio managers handle.
The indicators cover renewal and lock coverage, how many domains resolve to active content, the share protected by DNSSEC and email authentication, certificate renewal readiness, and time to respond to abusive registrations.
“If you cannot measure a portfolio, you end up paying for names nobody uses and missing the few that matter. These KPIs give legal, IT and marketing a shared view,” says Daniel Hartley, Chief Revenue Officer at MarkScout.
